Position Statement:

This position is an integral part of the maintenance team and will be responsible for all maintenance of existing plumbing and execution of new plumbing that is needed. This position will work amongst a team and report to the Maintenance Supervisor with a close working relationship with the Director of Facilities. It is critical that this candidate be responsible, detail orientated and professional.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures within the hospital and all surrounding facilities.
  • Collaborate closely with general contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Follow building plans and blueprints to accurately implement plumbing systems according to specifications.
  • Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies, diagnose issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems to identify potential problems and prevent future issues.
  • Perform light construction tasks such as carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling work, and electrical work as required.
  • Prepare accurate bids, budgets, and cost estimates for plumbing projects.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, including time spent, work descriptions, and materials used.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Candidates must be a Master Plumber with valid VT License or have a Journeyman's License and be willing to achieve the Master Plumber license while working.
  • Must have experience with building codes and safety standards.
  • Must be willing to learn or have experience in boiler maintenance & repair.
  • Must perform installation of various plumbing systems.
  • Must have experience with HVAC maintenance, repair & installation.
  • Must have experience working with low/high pressure steam.
  • Must have experience at pipe fitting and welding.
  • Must be willing to learn medical gas and vacuum systems.
