Thomas seeks a faculty member in physics effective Fall 2025 to join a vibrant college dedicated to student success. The new faculty member will join the College at an exciting time marked by a significant expansion of the sciences. Thomas opened newly renovated and expanded lab space in the Fall of 2024 and anticipates additional lab expansion in the near future. The College will launch a new Biology major in the Fall of 2025 and plans to add faculty in Chemistry and Biology to support students on a pre-professional track leading to graduate study.

Thomas College is seeking an individual to design and offer undergraduate courses in physics to support the new major in biology, expand general education opportunities in the sciences, complement and support a range of current majors including environmental science, education, and conservation law enforcement and position the College for developing new options in the future, perhaps to include forensic science.

The candidate will be expected to offer a range of undergraduate courses to include lab-based Physics I and II. The candidate will work collaboratively with other faculty in the sciences at Thomas and across other disciplines to create and deliver courses in physics that will complement current course offerings in biology and environmental science, help support Middle and Secondary Education certification tracks in life science and contribute to new program offerings at the undergraduate level.

Candidates must be committed to teaching excellence, service to the College, community engagement, and professional development. Responsibilities for full time faculty include the equivalent of a 4/4 teaching load, academic advising, committee service, and course/program development.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

· An appropriate terminal degree or substantial progress toward the degree by the time of appointment

· Evidence of engaging teaching that supports and motivates students

· Commitment to the integration of digital technology and its implementation in the classroom

· Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their teaching.
