Job Description

The School of Nursing at the University of Southern Maine invites applications a Part-time Faculty position in the graduate nursing program to teach Acute Care Theory II (NUR 643) to a cohort of Adult and Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) students.

This three-credit course is scheduled to be offered on the Portland Campus of the University of Southern Maine this Fall. "Acute Care Theory II" is listed to be taught in a blended format. The course can be a mix of face-to-face class and asynchronous material at the faculty's discretion. Face to face meeting times are scheduled for Tuesdays 2-4PM.

Responsibilities include following the course descriptions and course outcomes to offer this three-credit course to 8 or less advanced practice (NP) graduate nursing students. Faculty will teach in conjunction with other AGACNP faculty, manage the course using the Brightspace learning management system. Part time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. In addition, USM employees, have access to the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center(s) with their USM Card. USM also offers Part time faculty the opportunity for development through the Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD), the chance to get online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other development opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

Required Qualifications:

  • MS in nursing with APRN certification and licensure.
  • Current active Maine RN and APRN license
  • Able to meet employment criteria including background check.B
